Annual Revenue: $1.2 million forecasted for 2026

Key Outcomes

  • $500,000 Project From One Scan

A same-day 3D room scan turned a simple design consultation into a full-home renovation, breaking ground within weeks.

  • $1.2 Million Gross Revenue

First year crossing into seven figures, after building toward the milestone for two years.

  • In-House 3D Design

They use Houzz Pro for smaller jobs, instead of paying outside firms for CAD, SketchUp, or blueprint work.

Situation

JG Color, founded by Jennifer Guerin 25 years ago, had outgrown the patchwork of tools it once relied on for daily design work. Before Houzz Pro, the studio pieced together separate apps for scheduling, invoicing, and client communication, none of which talked to each other.

Guerin loves Houzz Pro because it's one connected system built around how a design studio actually runs. Jen's goal is to consolidate as many use cases as possible into Houzz Pro's all-in-one platform—image generation, call recording, financial reporting, virtual assistant, and more.

That's our top complaint from our team: all the different platforms we have to use. Where do we even go for information? That's Houzz Pro.

Solution

JG Color adopted Houzz Pro's built-in AI across nearly every part of the business rather than treating it as a side tool. Jen describes her team as aggressive adopters of AI: “We're doing everything. But AI is not a replacement for any human.” AI helps the team solve problems quicker, speed up administrative tasks, and keep information in one place. She's now looking to eliminate paid subscriptions for stand-alone tools that are already included in the Houzz Pro offering.

“The minute Houzz AI came out, we were like, ‘oh, thank god,’” Guerin says of the AI features launching directly inside the platform she already used daily.

Daily Logs replaced the follow-up work her team used to dread. “It's huge. Designers love it because we can get in the car, drive, and just download the day by talking it out,” Guerin says. The AI Clipper is now a daily habit for sourcing products: “We've used the AI Clipper since the second it came out. We clip like crazy.”

Guerin's team also uses Houzz AI for Proposals, feeding in historical invoices from builders to speed up document creation.

The biggest shift came from the 3D room scan. During a routine design consultation in Point Loma, Guerin scanned the client's home on her phone and showed them a changed floor plan, moved furniture, and an extended countertop, on the spot. “Clients eat this up. They can finally see a 3D model of what it could look like,” she says. “That would have taken hours, and it would have taken my team who does rendering to do it.”

Results

Based on seeing 3D designs in Houzz Pro, the client expanded scope to a full home remodel—far beyond a design consultation. “We're about to break ground in two weeks,” Guerin says of what became a full-home renovation, roughly a $500,000 project including about $100,000 in design fees alone, all from a client who originally asked about changing the flooring.

That kind of same-visit visualization is part of why JG Color is on track to cross $1.2 million in gross revenue this year, a milestone Guerin has been building toward for two years. The studio has also cut its dependence on outside design resources. “We used to have to pay somebody who has CAD, or use SketchUp, or Homestyler. They're not easy, or fast,” Guerin says. Smaller jobs that once needed a blueprint designer, she now handles herself.

“Competitors like Design Studio have tried to recruit us more than once, and we always say no,” Guerin says. “Houzz Pro keeps moving the needle in AI, in ways that actually help. That's what us designers want.”
