Don't buy it if you are that concerned about chipping that you would give up an undermount sink. Buy something else, where you can have the sink edge, and counter edge, rounded over just a bit.

Yes. Get a through-body material with a larger rounded edge profile. Don't miter it please; live with the thickness as is.

It's the picture-on-the-top aspect of sintered that causes it to have to be mitered. The more rounded that mitered edge, the more of the picture is removed and the uglier the edge. The sharper the edge, the more likely the chipping.

Daltile is coming out with 2cm throughbody patterned porcelain at the end of June. I just got a preview, and it is going to be stunning! It is everything that Dekton wanted to be, but couldn't be.

@ Joseph Corlett, LLC - thanks for the info about avoding the mitered edge. There is a reasonably priced through-body option where I am, but the style options are limitted.

@Zumi - Oh, I wish Daltile was already available. It probably won't be available in time for me. I live in Mexico and things tend to arrive here late.

@ Joseph Corlett, LLC - I have a follow up question. Do you see the same chipping issues with butted edges for sintered stone?

There can't be butted edges on sintered. It must be mitered and the required sharp miters chip.

How would Dekton behave in a waterfall effect island? Anything special to the edges to prevent chips?
