Advice with staining Brazilian cherry brown

Kerri Cook
last year

My solid Brazilian cherry (Jatoba) floors need to be refinished. While we’re at it, I want to tone down the red without bleaching or going super dark. My contractor typically uses Duraseal. He showed me pics of dark walnut he used on another job, but it is a little dark for me. Has anyone used a Duraseal in a something like special walnut or aged barrel, or a mixture of a Gray/brown stain ( like from their “intermix” line)? Or Basic coatings hypertone? Hypertone is the only line I’ve even seen with Jatoba samples on their website. Below is what I currently have vs. closer to what I am hoping to achieve.
