Thanks to all for your kind words! Regarding the backsplash, here are some suggestions. I had done stained glass work before, so when I saw this "thin" glass backsplash, I thought I could tackle the cutting with a simple glass cutter. With an additional tool to snap the glass where it was scored, I got a perfect cut almost every time. I purchased the glass cutter w/ oil (simple hand tool) at Michaels craft stores and the glass nipper at Home Depot....if you have the right tools, you can do almost anything. In applying the "simple mat" also from Home Depot.....the trick is to get it on the wall correctly (straight) the first time because it is VERY VERY STICKY...exactly what you want....but it is SO EASY to put on...just like contact paper. I took my time and worked in stages. I did the part above the sink first and grouted that area as well to get some practice on the entire process. I found that working in sections was best; simple mat, tile, grout, then on to the next section (or take a break because you have to grout within 24 hours of putting tile on wall w simple mat per instructions).
